Slightly concerning news from America that the Supreme Court have ruled former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts whilst taken in office, but have no immunity for unofficial acts.
Meaning the federal election interference case against Donald Trump will return to lower court which will then decide on how to apply this ruling.
The moment the judiciary are giving former, or current presidents, absolute immunity from prosecution is the moment the country is slipping dangerously into dictatorship territory. And makes a mockery of the checks and balances within the US.
Maybe Misha was right in his tweet?
This is an emergency, it’s a drop all things and action stations moment. If we don’t do everything to get as many people voting Democrat as possible, then it is the end of our beloved country. Make no mistake, this country belongs to us, it belongs to women, it belongs to the LGBT+ community, it belongs to minorities, it belongs to the disabled and it belonged to the Native Americans long before it belonged to us. Now fight for it, find your local Democrats, get your sleeves rolled up, get doorknocking, have those difficult conversations and bring it home, not for Joe, but for all of us. Fight like Hell!
“Ukraine has the largest number of landmines in the world. The demining operation is going to have to demine an area the size of the United Kingdom.
Russians have left mines in homes, their mines have been found in refrigerators, they’ve been found in children’s toy pianos in people’s homes, mines have been left in automobiles that were parked in people’s driveways.
If the world gets tired of hearing about this conflict, if we start tuning it out and we stop supporting Ukraine, and if our respective governments stop sending support, then Ukraine will be lost” – Misha Collins
Support Misha’s fundraising efforts to demine Ukraine and help Ukrainians to make their home more safe.
Alright, anyone going to Käärijä’s Glasgow gig fancy taking a green knitted tea cosy for him to wear in tribute to our original king of chaos Sir Billy Connolly?
If the entire crowd is yelling “Cha cha cha” and “Käärijä” and Loreen still ends up winning because of the jury votes there might be something wrong with how powerful the juries are
As a Finn I’m so pissed rn bc the win would’ve meant so much to the whole country. Käärijä was incredible but we still lost to freaking Sweden.
I proudly voted for the most original song out there, Team Cha Cha Cha all the way!
Democracy is on the line. Do you really want Joe Manchin to hold us back on effective climate change legislation and voter suppression? Vote in Georgia? Live abroad? Follow this link to get your vote in for Reverend Warnock so we can get going forward.
Sorry to sound like a grump, but I wish people would educate themselves about what Misha is talking about here before commenting. He’s not talking about Halloween, he’s trying to help the situation with the very grave elections in Brazil today by using his platform. The fate of the Amazon rainforest, its indigenous peoples as well as that of LGBT+ people is at stake this election. The current president of Brazil is a homophobic misogynistic fascist, who wants to extend his brutal thuggish rule for life. Please do not make light of the situation, lives are at risk.
My final rant on those against the Amazon production of Rings of Power.
Every time I see the opening credits on Sir Peter Jackson’s films, there’s one credit that those who criticise Jeff Bezos for should be mindful of. I have said previously that I am no fan of Bezos, he is a tax cheat and his workers deserve far more pay than he gives, and far fewer hours that he takes. However, people should remember that one of the executive producers of Sir Peter’s trilogy was convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein.
It is galling to me, a woman with my own story of sexual harrassment, to see that name every time I go to watch a film that should be a comfort film, especially in today’s day and age. To know that women suffered at the hands of that monster.
So please, remember this: before you hit out at The Rings of Power, perhaps what you have to say is best said to your friends, not shouted out on social media. As I have also said previously, I am not a fan of Harry Potter, I have my reasons, including JK Rowling’s record of transphobic remarks. However I feel no need to comment on Harry Potter on my social media channels. It is possible to hold your fire and move on to something you might enjoy.
